May 2008 1958 Reunion

The Class of 1958 held their 50th Reunion in May 2008 in Salem, Alabama - Rocky Top Farm (owned by Faye (Denson) and Robert Parkman. Forty-nine of the approximate 165 students (graduates and non-graduates) celebrated this historic reunion.

We started our reunion by coming together on Friday afternoon and a wonderful dinner that evening. Saturday started off with a prayer breakfast at one of the local hotels. It was a casual day with a light lunch and more time to reacquaint with our “old” friends. Our Reunion Program featured four wonderful speakers - Coach Ball, Mr. Mezick, Mr. Richardson and Mr. Boyles. Each had us laughing as they reminisced about their experiences at Baker with the students and each other.

After a great dinner that evening we enjoyed dancing with music furnished by a DJ. The highlight of the evening for many of us was listening to the Teen Tones again. As the evening came to a close, we said our good-bys and returned to our respective homes with warm hearts and renewed sense of our history.

Yes, we have special class members. As we look back, we realize the strong sense of community we were exposed to during our years at Baker. Was it perfect? Not by a long shot – but we gathered memories that are truly special and unique.

Some of us left school before graduation for other reasons but the ties to BHS are strong and we consider ourselves part of this class.

In February 2006, our class met in Columbus for lunch to discuss plans for our 50th reunion. Since then, we continued to meet every month on the 3rd Thursday. We enjoy visiting with each other and keeping in touch. The fellowship is wond
