Heidi Bivens
July 32, 1955 - February 20, 2024
Bluffton, South Carolina

Heidi Ann Bivens, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, left this world on February 20, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones in Hilton Head Island, SC. She was born in Munich, Germany, on July 21, 1955, to Earl and Eleanor Kirkpatrick while Earl was serving in the Army. She moved to the United States at an early age, meeting "the love of her life" at age 15 while attending a sock hop at Baker High School in Columbus, GA. She would marry her love, William (Bill) Bivens, at the age of 17 just as he was enlisting in the Navy and heading off to Boot Camp. Two years later, Heidi and Bill would have their one and only child, Jessica, who they affectionately and eternally called their "baby girl."

Heidi worked as a nurse for several years, mostly in pediatrics, where her compassion in helping others was commendable, even early on in her career, receiving "Best Bedside Manner" in her graduating class. Heidi and Bill would eventually move to their forever home in Bluffton, SC, inspired to "pick up and move to the beach" by Jessica and their son-in-law, Mike.

Once settled in Bluffton, Heidi began taking on small sewing projects for her neighborhood friends that eventually grew into more than she ever imagined, designing and sewing custom curtains and bedding for several families in the area. One home was featured in a popular home-decor magazine, for which her beautifully crafted curtains were on display for the world to see. However, Heidi's biggest pride in life was her grandson, Sawyer. She joked until just even a few days prior to her passing that she loved him "the most."

Visitation will be held to honor and celebrate Heidi's life at Sauls Funeral Home in Bluffton, SC on Friday, March 8, 2024, from 4pm-6pm. An informal interment of ashes ceremony will be held on Friday, March 15, 2024, at 11am at Beaufort National Cemetery in Beaufort, SC.
