Baker Choral Club Trip Posted Sunday, December 4, 2011 06:55 PM Back in the early 1950's (1952/53??) the Baker Choral Club made a trip to the University of Georgia at Athens, Ga., to participate in (I think) an All-State competition with other high schools from all over Georgia. Mr. Hugh Deen was head of the Baker Choral Club at the time. Our transportation was a bus and we were assigned dorms where we slept at night. As I remember it, the singing groups sang on the stage in a big auditorium and the band played in the audience area (or vice-versa). The main thing I remember about the singing was that the Baker bass singers made the room reverberate when we sang. I don't remember what songs we sang or where we placed in the competition, but we had a lot of fun, especially on the trip back to Columbus. Does anyone remember that trip? |
