David Cooper, Montgomery, AL and Anchorage, AK, aged 71, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, April 26, 2021. He was born in Wilmington, Delaware, lived in various states and countries where his father served in the military, grew up in Columbus, Georgia where he attended Baker high School, received a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Anchorage and a Master’s Degree in Business from the University of LaVerne, Anchorage. David was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to many throughout the world. He is survived by his wife, Diane Cooper of Montgomery, AL and his children, Samuel Cooper, Matthew and Terry Cooper, Jennifer Cooper and grandchildren; namesake, David and Roy Cooper. He is a beloved brother to James (Judy) Cooper, Catherine (Tim) Hewlett, Jackie Wheeler, Steve (Kathy) Cooper, and Ron (Donna) Cooper and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jean and Fin Cooper.
David served 9 years in the U.S. Army. He served in Vietnam and was a recipient of a Purple Heart and Bronze Star Medal for acts of heroism. He worked as a Probation Officer in the State of Alaska until 1981. He joined the Anchorage Police Department where he retired as Captain in 2003, after serving 22 years.
He loved God, his family, and his country where he impacted many lives throughout the world. His family has such a strong love for him that will hold them through their loving memories until they are all united in Heaven.

A service will be held in Anchorage, Alaska on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at 11:00 AM at the Legacy Heritage Chapel at Angeles, 440 E. Klatt Road, Anchorage, Alaska 99515.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation or The Parkinson’s Foundation.
