Joan Gallops was born on July 2, 1931 to John Roy Davis and Lester Belle Bennett. She grew up in Columbus, GA, and graduated from Baker High School in 1948. She married her high school sweetheart, Jack L. Gallops, in October, 1949. They were married until his death at an early age on May 22, 1971.

Joan was employed with Muscogee County School District from 1953 until her retirement in February, 1992. She did not like being retired so she began working at MEA Federal Credit Union in July, 1992 until her retirement from MEA/Kinetic Credit Union, July 29, 2016.

She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church in Columbus, GA.

She loved her Lord and Savior, her family and friends, and her job for many years. Her special love were her children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her mother, father, and husband, Jack L. Gallops.

Survivors include sons, Steven Monroe Gallops (Angela) and Darrell Wayne Gallops (Margaret); daughter, Sharon Gallops Drawdy (Butch); grandchildren, Mandy Gallops Lane (Jeremy), Stephanie Gallops, Darrell Wayne Gallops, Jr. (Lindsey), Kristi Gallops Bearden, Jeremy (Bubba) Gallops (Kathleen), Matthew Gallops, Jack Drawdy (Abbey), and Jill Drawdy; as well as 12 precious great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Marion Baker and Peggy Lambert, and special nieces and nephews.
