Obituary for Sanford E. Butler

 

Sanford E. “Stan” Butler, 77, of Columbus, died at 8:55 p.m. July 20, 2019, at Our Hospice of South Central Inpatient Facility.


Stan was born October 17, 1942, in Anderson, IN, the son of Alfred Eli Butler and Minnie Wood Butler. He married Carol June Roseberry July 17, 1965.
Stan retired from Cummins Engine Company after many years of service. After retirement his favorite pastime was spending time with the love of his life June. He enjoyed traveling, fishing as well as quality time with his family. Stan was a member of East Columbus Christian Church and was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force.


The funeral will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday July 25, 2019, at Jewell Rittman Family Funeral Home with Ron Bridgewater and Larry Jamison officiating. Calling will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of service on Thursday. Burial will follow the service at Garland Brook Cemetery with military honors provided by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard.

Survivors include son Sanford Eli (Alicia) Butler Jr. of Terre Haute, IN, daughter Deborah Kay (Kelly) Stevens of Prince George, British Columbia, brother Carl B. (Annette) Butler of North Vernon, IN, sister Barbara Seiker of Dayton, OH, Grandchildren: Alyssa Butler, Canon Hilber, Logen Hilber, Great-Grandchildren: Bryson Butler, Addison Butler, Serenity Butler and Valak Dansby.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred Eli Butler and Minnie Ward; wife, Carol June on December 8, 2016; sister, Myona Kelsika and grandson Tyler J. Butler.
