Sorry for any confusion. These were two separate accidents. I stand corrected. :(

Darlene and I met in the 7th grade at Eddy Jr High School. We were in homeroom together for the rest of our school years and in many other activities in and out of school.

Darlene was pretty, fun, and smart. One of my most vivid memories is of a history test that I was studying diligently for and Darlene telling me that I didn't need to study that hard for this test because afterall it was just common sense.

Another memory is of a Halloween Carnival that Mrs Turgeon (TJ's Mom) was organizing at Benning Hills Elementary School. Darlene got 4 of us together to do a dance routine to the song Lollipop. We practiced in her driveway and had a really great time. We must have been in 9th grade, and to this day, I find my self humming that song.

i knew darlene at benning hills elementary. So tragic. I wish they taught drivers ed and driver safety at our schools. so many adolescents were killed because of lack of experience. that should have beena mandatory class (drivers' ed).

She and her sister lived across the lake from me.  When I was late for school would cut through

and come out by her house.  Even used that route on the way to Baker.  Always fun running into them

when I did it.  It was sad when I heard about the wreck, I was away and the news was sad.  Her sister and

I were closer in age and I just think of them both today when I walk by the house.  She was such a great

girl.

I didn't really know Barbara or Corky, but I did know Darlene.  Just like everyone said, she was a very nice person and I was shocked when I heard the news of her death.  Ironically, my husband (who I didn't even know at the time) lived across the street from the bridge on Auburn Rd. where the accident happened.  He and Don Duke were one of the first ones on the scene and helped pull the girls out of the water.

I WAS FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO GROW UP WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE OF DARLENE'S HOUSE . I GREW UP KNOWING "MOM" TOMLIN, THE MAJOR, JACKIE, DIANE, DARLENE & DEBBIE. I PLAYED CO-ED SOFTBALL WITH DIANE, DARLENE AND GERRI GROVE. MAN, THOSE GIRLS COULD PLAY SOME SOFTBALL.

I REMEMBER MANY A NIGHT THAT KEITH WEST, T.J.TURJEON, TOMMY THOMAS AND KEN HUDSON WOULD SLEEP ON THEIR PATIO (HARD CONCRETE) TO MAKE SURE THEY WERE "PROTECTED WHEN THE MAJOR WAS AWAY OVERNIGHT.

I ALSO REMEMBER MANY A TIMES A COUPLE OF US GUYS WOULD GET IN THE BACK OF THE TOMLIN'S STATION WAGON AND GO TO THE DRIVE-IN WITH DIANE, DIANE WHITE, SHERRY SOUTH & DARLENE. ONLY TO GET BUSTED ONCE.

DARLENE WAS UCH A VIBRANT OUT-GOING , FUN LOVING SOUL. WE HAD JUST STARTED DATING WHEN SHE PASSED AWAY. I WILL ALWAYS MISS HER.
