Sadly, Michael Basiliere, BHS '69 passed away on 12 Aug 2010 - peacefully in his sleep - resting in peace now from his pain and struggles with cancer. Mike was the Mayor of our Bakerville Lion Forum - Impromptu Chat Lion Discussions.... He was tremendously endeared to the LIONS of Bakerville and certainly many others! We greatly miss Mayor Mike! The viewing of Mike will be this Sunday, August 15th at 11 am at Cox Funeral Home in Hamilton, GA with the funeral service to follow at 2 pm.

A little more than a year ago someone I know and love sent me this about a friend of ours who we lost unexpectedly. I haven't been on the forum much these past months, and was shocked and saddened to hear about Mike when I caught up on the many posts. See you all soon.
Excerpt: "Go Down Death"
And Death took him up like a baby,
And he lay in his icy arms,
But he didn't feel no chill.
And Death began to ride again-
Up beyond the evening star,
Out beyond the morning star,
Into the glittering light of Glory,
On to the Great White Throne.
And there he laid brother Michael
On the loving breast of Jesus.
I was out of the country on an Army Retiree Recall assignment when Mike passed. I was not even aware until just this minute that he was gone. I had lost touch with him after so many Army transfers, but knew he'd moved to the country N. of Hamilton, where I visited him a couple times. He was the Best Man at my wedding in 1972 and we looked like riverboat gamblers in our ruffled Tux shirts and Jackets. Mike, Scott Riley and I used to ride thru Benning Hills in Scott's '63 Rambler station wagon, exhaust cutouts open, at 0200, just because we could. Mike, you were one of the good guys, I'll miss you and am sorry I was not aware of your absence. R.I.P. James Michael Joseph Basiliere.
