Rosalyn BarfieldStanford June 7, 1958- February 21, 2012 Phenix City, AL- Rosalyn Barfield Stanford passed away at her home in Phenix City, AL, Tuesday, February 21, 2012. She was born in Columbus, GA, the daughter of Thomas Maurice Barfield and Mary Taft Barfield Thompson. During her elementary school days, she enjoyed piano, flute, ballet lessons and cheerlleading. She attended Brookstone High School with honors and received a nursing degree from Chattahoochee Valley Community College, receiving top honors in all aspects of her nursing studies. She served as a nurse at local hospitals, home health services and Columbus Hospice for four, which were especially meaningful to her as she ministered to families of hospice patients. Rosalyn was talented in creative crafts and enjoyed making gifts for family and friends and enjoyed writing poetry.
Rosalyn's father, Thomas Maurice Barfield preceded her in death. She is survived by her mother, Mary Taft Barfield Thompson (Billy), sons Ryan Todd, Sr., James Devitt, III (Kasey), daughter, Holly Devitt Strickland (Chuck), sisters, Becky Barfield Dewald, Watkinsville, GA, brother, Thomas Maurice Barfield (Dorothy) Rock Hill, SC, seven grandchildren, several cousins, nieces and nephews and Mr. James Lett, a close and devoted friend.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 25, 2012 at 3:00 pm at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Macon Road Chapel, 4071 Macon Rd.,Columbus, GA.
