He lived in the Ozark area for several years until the family moved to Dawsonville, and then moved to Columbus in 1945. While his children were growing up he enjoyed being involved in coaching their little league teams. Amos, retired from the Muscogee County School District after 31 years. He was a teacher, coach, and athletic director through the years. Loved being a coach and mentor to the students and athletes at Eddy Middle School. He cherished the influence the children and their families had on him and he was grateful for the opportunity he had to hopefully be a positive influence in their lives. Amos was a member of The Church of the Holy Family for over 25 years, he enjoyed fishing, and could even laugh at himself when he was out fished. He was calm and patient, he was a good man who was spiritual and had strong morals, traits his family has come to appreciate and apply to their own lives. He loved his family dearly and especially the time he got to spend with his precious grandchildren.
