Everyone remembers where they were when they heard that President Kennedy had been shot. I was in Col. Thomas's senior civics class when the announcement came over the intercom. That dedicated teacher (and kind man) stood before us, tears streaming down his face, and tried to help us make sense of the awful news.

I had the Major's senior class as a junior. He really din not know what to make of that for a bit till I proved I could do his work and participate in class. He was a great teacher.

I only attended Baker High my senior year but Major Thomas was a special teacher for me.  He discovered I could paint a little and draw and decided I was the perfect person to help him decorate his wood purses that he crafted at home.  He also managed to drive home some real history to me and not too many teachers accomplished this - I wasn't the best history student for sure.  When I joined here, he was the first teacher I started searching for!
