Kathy passed away of complications from lung disease 06-27-2016 at the age of 68. Survived by: Cissy Whitt Dotzler-sister Mary Frances Whitt Dingler-sister Ralph L. Whitt, JR.-brother

She graduated from Baker High School in 1965 and graduated with a BA from the University of Georgia in 1969. She joined the Peace Corp in 1970. She worked for Campus Crusade for Christ for 25 years in many overseas assignments. In 1994, she graduated from The University of Oxford in England with a Masters degree in Church History. What a loss of such a beautiful person. So giving all her life and created so many memories for all of us. May she rest in peace knowing how much good she did in this life.

I'm so sorry to learn of Kathy's passing. We were in Germany together in seventh, eighth, and ninth grade .I ramember youth fellowship and great bike rides. What fun to find Káthy and Cissy at Baker. Though we lost contact through the years, she will always be one of my good friends.

My memory of Cissy is a little strange. We had been transferred to Atlanta and I was in my third and final high school (yes, it's closed also) and had started Georgia Tech and Georgia State. I called a friend at the University of Georgia and got a dormitory. When I introduced myself, the person who picked up the phone was Cissy! We talked briefly about Baker High and school. I was very, very flattered that she remembered me.  It made an impresssion. That was the last contact I had with her, and I had no idea that she would go on to do the things listed in her obituary. It sounds like she had a pretty good life. Too bad I didn't know her better.

Sometimes it's difficult to think of a friend's passing without using the "gone home", "in a better place" or "God needed another Angel"; none of which softens the grief shared by family and friends (and all of which I try to avoid in services). In Kathy's case however, all are not only true and appropriate, but wrapped in thoughts of a different type of sadness, one born of a sorrow of not knowing her as an adult and of her passion for the Lord's work. I have no doubt that Kathy is resting at the foot of the Throne, awaiting further orders ... and we fellow Christians.
