He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Cynthia Caldwell.
Loving Father of Jessica Mock (son-in-law, Jack Mock), Jennifer Caldwell, Zachary Whitson (daughter-in-law, Marisa Whitson), and Jeremiah Whitson (daughter-in-law Heather Whitson). Grandfather of Jane Mock, Mason Sito, Emma Whitson and Avery Fussell.
He is survived by two sisters Barbara Sue Brandt and Glenda Hall.
Son of the late James Garrett Caldwell and Ruth Ellen Caldwell from Columbus, Georgia.
He served in the US Army and Army Reserves. He graduated from Medical College of Georgia with a Bachelor’s degree in nursing (1974) and Master’s degree in nursing (1976). He attended and played football for University of Tennessee for two years after graduating high school from Baker High School in June 1964, Columbus, Georgia.
Member of Fort Caroline Baptist Church.

I was so surprisd to read this. Gary was a friend in high school, and it was nice visiting with him on the few times I've seen him at luncheons in Columbus.. He was a great person, and I'm sure his prsenc will be missd by many.

So sorry to hear of Gary's passing. We spent a lot of time cruising Columbus and beyond. We knew every speed trap for a hundred miles around. Those were good times. He was a great guy and will be missed.
