So there is not any confusion on your part, I removed your "Bill of Rights" nonsense. Keep that on Facebook where it perhaps may belong. Any further talk about disbanding the BHSAA will not be allowed on the BHSAA website. I will remove you, if you persist. BTW, I personally, have no problem with you consulting an attorney for whatever you wish.

RE: BAKERVILLE, USA, Impromptu Chat, OCTOBER 2023 Posted Friday, October 13, 2023 07:38 AM You know, Hitler used this very same tactic. You have no gut's for the fight, so you just use sensorship. I'm good, and I can bide my time. Years from now, I'll be a footnote, but you and that other fellow will carry the shame, as the ones who tried to jack boot all the rest of us.

RE: BAKERVILLE, USA, Impromptu Chat, OCTOBER 2023 Posted Friday, October 13, 2023 08:48 AM Talk about drama..... Henry, this forum is not the place for disparaging the BHSAA or fellow alumni. Personal attacks will not be allowed. No guts for the fight? That is probably the problem there. You view this as something that is a fight, as opposed to just trying to understand why certain actions are taken. The Board has not done anything that is illegal, immoral or unethical. We try to abide by the ByLaws and run the organization for the benefit of all members.

RE: BAKERVILLE, USA, Impromptu Chat, OCTOBER 2023 Posted Friday, October 13, 2023 09:52 AM Perhaps you can determine why nearly 100% of the alumni wants you and The other guy out. We've never had an issue before. What could be the problem. I will be hosting a free BHS gathering. David Spaw, and Jim Davis will certainly be welcome to attend. I'll post the location. |

RE: BAKERVILLE, USA, Impromptu Chat, OCTOBER 2023 Posted Friday, October 13, 2023 11:13 AM Henry, exaggerate much? There over 15,000 alumni.....there are 300+ Current BHSAA members. I doubt "close to 100%" of either could agree on most things. If you didn't understand my prior remarks, I will try once again, I am not trying to win a popularity contest. What some people (essentially you and perhaps a half dozen other people) think isn't going to change the situation. I have been on the BHSAA board since 2015. I am only VP, because nobody else wanted the position (I didn't want it). I agreed to be VP with the stipulation, I was not into Sales or Politics, meaning I was not going to sweet talk or play games......And playing games is what it seems this has become. As for your free BHS gathering, I say that is fine. The BHSAA does not have a monopoly on BHS related events and anyone can organize an event. Ish has his lunch and that is a nice event for Baker Alumni. |

RE: BAKERVILLE, USA, Impromptu Chat, OCTOBER 2023 Posted Monday, October 16, 2023 08:19 PM Dang Rodney this is the most posting I've seen on here in ages! I just hate to see all the folks arguing but if you recall that's when we averaged over 100 pages a month of discussion. It's also when we had our get togethers at Roy's with live music and over 1000 lions would show up. Seems like when you put a lot of pomp and circumstance into something simple you usually screw it up. No one will ever surpass the 2000 reunion as far as fun and the number of attendees and no controversy. C.William Land Jr. |

RE: BAKERVILLE, USA, Impromptu Chat, OCTOBER 2023 Posted Tuesday, October 24, 2023 07:51 PM Id like all Lions to know, I've thrown my hat into the ring. I nominated myself, to become a Board Member. (I was advised, that this is the process). I declaired my intention to seek the Presidency, if allowed to join the Board. The process is as follows: 1. Nominate yourself to join the board. 2. The Board will vote, as to wheather you can be a board member or not. 3. If you get on the board, you then declair for a position (pres.) 4. Then the same People vote on wheather or not you get the position. I don't know if it has to be unanimous, or a simple majority. I can't say that I agree with this system, but it's what we have to work with. So, Vote for me, I'll set you free. as the song goes. |

RE: BAKERVILLE, USA, Impromptu Chat, OCTOBER 2023 Posted Friday, October 27, 2023 03:10 PM HENRY, Whoever advised you on the official way to become a Board member has been missinformed theirselves. Here is the proper way an Alumni can become a member of the Board of Directors.
D. ELECTION, NOMINATION AND QUALIFICATIONS: Elections to fill the expiring terms of any director shall be conducted in the following manner:

RE: BAKERVILLE, USA, Impromptu Chat, OCTOBER 2023 Posted Sunday, October 29, 2023 05:47 PM Thanks Rod. I didn't have a copy of anything to go by, so I just said what I wanted, and what my intentions are. Last thing I ran for, was the county line. I just think (factoring in the advanced age) We can bring the old Baker life back. Throngs of us at the Loft, In Cooks Parking lot, spontaieous gatherings. Might even through an open invite party at my house. (Careful of the stairs). Wings, Beer, perhaps some Scotch. A good partner in crime, the Wood Man is suppose to be moving back to Columbus. That is to say, He, and his pretty wife Sarah. |

RE: BAKERVILLE, USA, Impromptu Chat, OCTOBER 2023 Posted Monday, October 30, 2023 09:19 AM The points Henry posted are correct. See below You should have received this email. Baker High School 1943- 1991 Baker High School Alumni Association Your Board of Directors Nominating Committee is reaching out to the general membership to request nominations to fill vacancies created by expiring terms of some Directors. If you would like to nominate yourself as a Director, please contact one of the members of the nominating committee whose email addresses are located below. If you would like to nominate an alumnus other than yourself, please discus your desire with the alumnus you wish to nominate to be certain they wish to serve on the Board prior to contacting the Nominations Committee. All officer’s terms expire in January and the offices of President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary will be vacant and available for nomination by a Special Nominating Committee selected by the President and elected by a majority of the current Board of Directors. That Committee has been appointed and elected by a majority vote of the Board of Directors. Only newly elected Board of Directors may be elected as officers. To be clear, per our bylaws the current Directors present at our January Annual Meeting will vote on nominees for the new Board of Directors. The current Directors will then vote on a slate of nominees selected who are on the newly elected Board of Directors. An email will be sent to all alumni informing them of the newly elected Directors and Officers, whose terms begin at the conclusion of our January Annual Meeting. (December 13, 2023 is the deadline for nominations.) Cathy, Could you explain this part to me. To me, this part is saying the CURRENT Directors will be voting on nominees and then the CURRENT Directors will then vote on a slate of nominees. I'm confused...will they be voting twice?? Rodney Wolfinger '69 |

RE: BAKERVILLE, USA, Impromptu Chat, OCTOBER 2023 Posted Monday, October 30, 2023 01:43 PM The current directors ( board members) will 1) vote on those who have submitted their name to become a board member. 2) vote on the officers from those who submitted their desire to be an officer if they were elected to the board. Example. You wanted to run for president, but you were not elected to the board - you will not voted on for officer. |

RE: BAKERVILLE, USA, Impromptu Chat, OCTOBER 2023 Posted Tuesday, October 31, 2023 12:04 PM Love seeing the increase in activity on our site. Stimulating, and engaging all Lions, in a positive way. Could someone tell me why we have our own Baker site, and still have the need for a Face Book page? We also seem to be policeing the page for content. All of this control isn't making people feel welcome, (in my humble opinion). I've had completely appropriate content removed by David Spaw, and Mine was the only post held up on the FB page. We need to back waaaaaay down on the desire to censor stuff. Come on y'all. At my age, I say what I want to say, and try to treat everyone equally. I think we have all seen what happens when people with power try to run the whole show according to how they feel personally. Thanks for posting the bylaws Cathy. I also thank you for being one of most helpful board members. I hope you will be staying on the board. |

RE: BAKERVILLE, USA, Impromptu Chat, OCTOBER 2023 Posted Tuesday, October 31, 2023 03:46 PM Looked it up, and now I know. It's an expression that arose out of the internet/Face Book. I totally agree, now that I got all learned up on it. Don't know if y'all saw, Cooks (inside) is going to be open til 7:00, starting Nov.1st. yep. |

BAKERVILLE, USA, Impromptu Chat, OCTOBER 2023 Posted Tuesday, October 31, 2023 04:18 PM A 'flamewar' is what is happening on FB with the bickering, the accusatations, negative attitudes towards certain people or enities without knowing the entire story of both sides, but yet they just keep grinding and grinding. And, if they are told the entire story of both sides, they won't stop and think about both sides, but continues to blame one side only. It brings folks in who will jump on the negative side of a discussion instead of finding a solution to it. I've seen flamewars escalate to threats of harm to an individual, cyber stalking, ghotsting. Negative brings negative. And some, IMO, aren't trying to bring good to the situation, they just keep at it.... I'm tired of people not reading the bylaws and understanding them. There have been no changes to the bylaws, Henry. Only one policy (not a change in bylaws, which no-one will understand) in four years and of which I didn't agree with. but, the policy was made by the President. It is in the bylaws ... if they would just read the bylaws. If something in the bylawas is confusing (or Articles of Incorportation) ask... Lord knows I've asked a thousand times to have them explained in my first year. I'm tired of the bickering, the pointing of fingers, the accusations, etc. back and forth, back and forth. It just needs to die for it's not accomplishing anything. There will be a new board and officers in January and then you all can change the association, if there is anything left of it, and be happy.
