RE: Baker Demolition News Posted Sunday, February 27, 2011 07:38 PM No Problem Marion, She was such a complex structure, and is giving the crew a tough fight. Good for her. You Go Girl. Typical Baker Lion, "Don't go down without a FIGHT"

RE: Baker Demolition News Posted Monday, February 28, 2011 04:41 PM A lot of talk has been made about the hope of finding a "TIME CAPSULE" somewhere among the rubble, of what once was a mighty fortress of Higher learning. I thought about something today the "Time Capsule" has been found and opened already by we, the Alumni in sharing our stories and photos of the mighty School. What more of a greater gift could she have left for us but in our hearts and memories?

RE: Baker Demolition News Time capsule update Posted Friday, March 4, 2011 10:20 AM Good morning everyone, Just got back from Baker a few minutes ago. I spoke with Chris yesterday and he asked me to come to the school this morning at 9am and he would dig around the last flag pole to see if we could locate the flag pole time capsule that was supposedly buried by the class of 65. Well he dug a hole about 5 feet deep 4 feet across and 6 feet or so long starting about 3 feet from one side of the flag pole to 3 feet past the center of the flagpole. we didn't find anything. I was going to take a few pictures but my camera was acting up and when I finally was able to get it working he was through digging. One day next week we will check the one that was in the courtyard. However Chris and I talked and we know that the flag pole had been moved and if we can find a picture of the old flag pole site he will dig there as well. While I was disappointed that we didn't find anything today, there is still hope. Take care, John John Crimmel 70 |

RE: Baker Demolition News Posted Friday, March 4, 2011 10:26 AM Dave, Great piece of writing. I wish I had thunk of it. I am mentally drained from this and worrying about the bricks and when we will be getting them as well as other things. Can you say FUPD. But it was a very nice piece of writing but does that mean I spent all that time at Baker watching Chris dig that hole for nothing. LOL Take care, John John Crimmel 70 |

RE: Baker Demolition News Posted Friday, March 4, 2011 09:45 PM Already been taken care of Marion. Everytime I talk with Chris I tell him I appreciate the fact that he has gone out of his way to honor the requests that I as well as others have made to him. Chris is a great guy. John Crimmel 70 |

RE: Baker Demolition News Posted Thursday, March 10, 2011 10:01 AM Good morning everyone. Spoke with Chris monday and he said that the school should be completely down by next Friday the 18th. He also said that they will be completely through with the clean up by next Friday as well. Evidently they are ready to move on. They were out there in the rain, thunder and lightning knocking down what was left of the outer walls. All that is left are the hallways and if what Chris has told me in the past is true they could be down today or no later than tomorrow. I'm going to go over there around noon and see what is going on. I'll post something this afternoon or later tonight. Y'all take care, John John Crimmel 70 |

Even knowing that the school was going down did not prepare me for my reaction when I saw these pictures. I was still shocked to see it no longer there. What a sad day. :(

I drove over to Baker this morning and ran into a reporter from WTVM and she asked me if I would mind answering a few questions on air. I told her I would be glad too. The interview will be on the 6pm newscast. She called the Housing Authority and asked them if she could come by there and interview someone about what they were going to do with the property. She went over there and I was still at Baker when she came back. In my interview I said I would like to see something built there that would not only make South Columbus proud but all of Columbus proud. She wouldn't tell me what the Housing Authority said but she did say she thought I would like it and that I would have to wait until the 6pm newscast to find out.
