Jared was a great person. I was best friends with his sister Patty Walding and spent a great deal of time at their home while in high school. Jared and I shared a class together. He was funny and kind. I will always cherish my memories of all the good times we had.Ronnie Chambers (1967)

Jerry Walding and many of us from Baker went to Columbus College (CSU) at the same time and hung together at the "Baker" table in the new Student Center. I remember his "After Halloween, Before Thanksgiving Pecan Picking Parties" at his parent's home in Ft. Mitchell, AL. When we got our lottery numbers, Jerry, like me got a low number. He was bound and determined to be a helocopter pilot and not be drafted. None of us could talk him out of it, and we tried and tried. I can remember those conversations and the fun times we had like it was yesterday. He was a great guy and I have felt sorry for his loss all these years. I was drafted on Feb. 27, 1970 and was in the reception station in Ft. Knox, KY when he died.

Jackie Benedict (1965)
Jared was a year younger than me but a good friend. He is still missed greatly. He married Debbie Allison his high school sweetheart who still lives in the Columbus area.
