Martha Jean Craft (Burns)

Martha Jean (Craft) Burns, 85, died Friday, December 12, 2020 in Columbus, Georgia.

A private graveside service will be held Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at Parkhill Cemetery with Rev. David Spiece officiating according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907. In keeping with the efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19, face coverings and social distancing will be required during the graveside service.

Martha was born September 3, 1935 in Troy, AL to the late James Walter Craft and Florence Edna Henderson Craft. She loved to fish, cook, and especially her grandsons and dog “Bama”.

She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Charles Burns of Columbus, GA, daughter, Risa Burns Lyman and fiancé Jimmy of Columbus, GA, grandson, Charles “David” DeSimas (Jonah) of Pine Mountain, GA, daughter, Robyn Wieczorek (James) of Columbus, GA, and grandson, Dylan Forbes of Columbus, GA.

NOTE: Martha went to BHS her 9th, 10th and 11th grade.  Her family moved to Phenix City her senior year where she graduated from Central High in 1954
