Thomas MacMurrain, Jr., resident of Columbus, passed away on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at Orchard View Nursing Home. Funeral services are scheduled on Tuesday, April 26, 2016, 11:00am, in Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby, 4071 Macon Rd. Columbus, Georgia 31907, with Reverend Tony Dickerson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 10:00am.
Mr. MacMurrain, son of the late Thomas MacMurrain Sr. and Marcella Selwyn MacMurrain, was born March 5, 1928 in Brooklyn, New York. He served our country honorably in the 
U.S. Navy during WWII, and after his service, Mr. MacMurrain retired as Letter Carrier from the U.S. Post Office. He was also a charter member at Pinhurst Baptist Church. Mr. MacMurrain loved to compete with the Army Marksmenship Unit in which he won a national award in 1963. 
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Edna Frazier MacMurrain; and son, Kenneth Thomas MacMurrain. 
Mr. MacMurrain is survived by his daughter, Patricia Dasenbrock Fuerstenau; sister, Thelma Cox; grandchildren, Jason D. Dasenbrock, Janna O'Neal, Kendra MacMurrain; great grandchildren, Carter Thomas O'Neal, Dylan Thomas Swader; and many other loved ones.
