Columbus, GA- Diane Brennan Koart, 67, of Columbus, GA, died Thursday, July 25, 2014 at Columbus Hospice House.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 29, 2014 in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church of Columbus with Dr. Jimmy Elder officiating. There will be a private interment. The family will receive friends Monday evening, July 23, 2014 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Striffler-Hamby, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA, 31907.
Mrs. Koart was born February 3, 1947 to Cedric and Ruth Brennan in Columbus, Georgia, where she lived most of her life. In Addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond H. Koart.
Mrs. Koart attended Huntington College, graduated from Auburn University and completed the degree for teaching specialist at Columbus College. She was a retired mathematics teacher with the Muscogee County School District. During her career she taught at Eddy Jr. High School, Baker High School, Spencer High School, Kendrick High School, and retired from Jordan High School. Mrs. Koart was active in the community, provided lay leadership for the home bound ministry and many other Ministries of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her sister, Jean Brennan Mann and her brother in law, Richard Mann, one niece, Amy Mann Jobe, and one great niece, Alison Marie Jobe, and well as cousins and many friends.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in memory of Mrs. Koart to First Baptist Church of Columbus, 212 12th Street, Columbus, GA, 31901, Columbus Hospice, www.columbushospice.com, or to a charity of your choice .
