Life Legacy:

Guy Alton "Rikki" Richardson, 66, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, March 27, 2014. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, March 31, 2014, at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel at Watson-Hunt Funeral Home. The family will visit with friends immediately following the service.

The older son of Guy and Elizabeth Richardson, Rikki was born and grew up in Columbus. A 1965 graduate of Baker High School, he received a basketball scholarship to Gainesville Junior College. He earned a Bachelor Degree in Education and a Master's Degree in Business from Columbus College. Rikki worked for over 20 years with Columbus Paper Company in Columbus and Benmark Paper Company in Montgomery, Alabama, as Vice President. Rikki was instrumental in building and bringing Mid-State Paper Company to Macon as a subsidiary of that same company and moved to Perry in 1991. He later began working for Introsul as the Operations Manager and eventually was employed with Marcraft, from where he retired as their Operations Manager. He was an avid fisherman and spent many hours searching and waiting for the "biggest one" participating in Bass fishing tournaments through the years. Rikki loved sports, and University of Alabama football and NASCAR were his favorite things to watch and support while barbecuing some of his favorite fixin's for everyone to enjoy. The greatest joys of his life, though, were his family, especially his grandchildren, who affectionately referred to him as "Rik Rik"...they were his pride and joy. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Haynesville.

Left to cherish the memories of Rikki are his wife of 20 years, Lynn Harper Richardson of Perry; his children, Matthew Jackson Richardson of Columbus, Melissa Lacefield Bassett (Tony) of Beckingham, England, Michelle Suleski of Perry, and Matt Suleski of Mobile, Alabama; his grandchildren, Elliot Lacefield and Breelyn Suleski; and his brother, William A. Richardson of Lawrenceville.

Condolences may be left for the family in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Ricky was one of those guys I admired alot. He was very nice to me and help me in football. Without his knowledge, he also helped me in other ways that carried throughout my life. I look back now on my life and identify those that were a positive influence on me. Ricky was one of those. I am forever grateful for his presence in my early life. I shudder to think how I might have turned out without those early positive beacons.

I remember when Rikki got married and "crashed" our 25th reunion at the Hilton.  He was a great guy and I have the honor of displaying his letter jacket in the "Lions Den" at Cooks.  Rest in peace dear friend.
