Ernestine Barnes Woolbright
July 3, 1919 - April 15, 2013
Columbus, GA- Ernestine B. Woolbright, age 93, of Columbus, died Monday, April 15, 2013, at St. Francis Hospital, Columbus. Graveside funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at Parkhill Cemetery with the Reverend Roy White officiating. The family will receive friends at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary Tuesday evening from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
Mrs. Woolbright was born July 3, 1919 in Bronwood, GA. the daughter of Ernest Strange Barnes and Pearl Cowart Barnes. She graduated from Georgia Southwestern State University and earned her Master's degree in education from Auburn University. Mrs. Woolbright had retired from the Muscogee County School System having previously taught at Baker High School, Gentian Elementary School, and Edgewood Elementary School. She was a member of N.A.R.F.E., a federal employee retirement association, and was a long time member of Edgewood United Methodist Church. She was also a lover of nature and an avid gardener.
Mrs. Woolbright was preceded in death by her husband, James Roy Woolbright, Jr., and a son, James Roy Woolbright. She is survived by two sons, John Douglas Woolbright (Carol) of Upatoi, and David Ernest Woolbright (Cathy) of Columbus; 5 grandchildren, John Woolbright, Jr. (Lee), James Woolbright (Jenifer), Bret David Woolbright (Laura Lee), Rebecca Catherine W. Beck (Ben), and David Bret "D.B." Woolbright; and 5 great grandchildren, Jack, Joshua, Amanda, John William, and Madison Leanne.
