Mrs. Childs was a great English teacher. Her classes were filled with enthusiastic learners. I am so glad that she touched my life. I am a teacher. I know that teachers like Mrs Childs inspired many of us to go into the education profession.

Mrs. Childs was one of the best English teachers that I ever had.  She worked us hard and cared for us.  God bless you Mrs. Childs.  We miss you!  Thanks for sharing the gospel with me.  Sometimes I can be a slow learner.

Abou Ben Adhem

Abou Ben Adhem (may his tribe increase!)
Awoke one night from a deep dream of peace,
And saw, within the moonlight in his room,
Making it rich, and like a lily in bloom,
An angel writing in a book of gold:—
Exceeding peace had made Ben Adhem bold,
And to the Presence in the room he said
"What writest thou?"—The vision raised its head,
And with a look made of all sweet accord,
Answered "The names of those who love the Lord."
"And is mine one?" said Abou. "Nay, not so,"
Replied the angel. Abou spoke more low,
But cheerly still, and said "I pray thee, then,
Write me as one that loves his fellow men."

The angel wrote, and vanished. The next night
It came again with a great wakening light,
And showed the names whom love of God had blessed,
And lo! Ben Adhem's name led all the rest.

Ms. Childs may you rest in peace!

Sharon, so sorry to hear that your mom has passed.  What a gracious lady--and her daughter as well.  My last year at Baker Ms. Childs and I were some of the chaperones with Mr. Grantham's band.  Wonderful memories of a great group of students and chaperones.  She was also an esteemed colleague.

Blessings,

Juanita McDuffie Twiggs 1968-1972
