In Memory

Wayne Pemberton - Class Of 1958

Emmett Wayne Pemberton (Hub) (1940 - 2011)

Emmett Wayne Pemberton (Hub) passed away on Monday, Aug. 15, 2011, surrounded by family. Memories will be forever treasured by his family and the friends of this strong man who was quick to laugh with and defend those he loved. This was a man with integrity, patriotic to the country he served and loved, who strongly believed in doing the right thing, respect and our God.

Born in Columbus, Ga., on April 13, 1940, this good looking and athletic man enlisted in the Air Force in October of 1959 and served his country for 20 years until his injuries suffered in Vietnam resulted in his Honorable Discharge as a fully disabled veteran. His disability directly leading to his recent death. Although he was in constant pain he never let it affect his love for hunting, fishing, golf and the true love of his life, his wife Natalie Pemberton. He lived his entire retired life here in Fort Walton Beach, Fla.

Wayne Pemberton and his son, Terry Wayne Pemberton are in the above photo.  Wayne was married to my sister, Sara Evelyn Allen Pemberton Joiner, who also graduated from Baker High School.  Although they later divorced, their union produced Wayne's only child, Terry Wayne Pemberton (called TPem by his friends).  Terry presently lives in Mesquite, NV, has two children (a boy Seth and a girl Karson), and works for the Clarke County School System.  Terry has two siblings his half-brother Jimmy Joiner, who retired as Master Chief from the Air Force, and his half-sister Cindy Joiner Tucker.
