John Hollis "Buddy" Gill, Jr. - Class Of 1959

John Hollis “Buddy” Gill Jr, 70, of Jesup, GA died at 10:37am on February 21, 2012 at the Hospice Center in the Appling Health Care Hospital, in Baxley, GA.

Born in Columbus, he was the son of the late John Sr. and Edith (Cliatt) Gill and brother of the late Wanda “Belle” Esposito. John was educated in Columbus, GA attended Baker High School, class of 1959.

During the years of 1962 to 1968 he served with the United States Navy, on the USS Truckee, then as Commanding Officer in U.S. Naval Reserve, and reenlisted from 1972 to 1974, and served on the USS Yellowstone as Radio Operator before being honorably discharged.

Mr. Gill held many titles, but was most remembered and known as “The Best Car Salesman in Florida” for many years, before retiring to GA.

He is survived by one daughter, Cynthia Baird of St Simon’s Island, GA and one son, Kenneth A. Gill of Apollo Beach, FL; two grandchildren Christina and Mathew Baird of St Simon’s Island, GA.

Mr. Gill wished to be cremated and placed to rest near his Mother, in the Richland, GA family cemetery.

John was a veteran and his sister Wanda worked as a manager for The Fisher House located in San Diego, CA.
