William Earl (Bill) Vest - Class Of 1970

Bill's sister, Pamela Vest (Conte), provided us with this information

William Earl Vest (Bill), age 58, passed away suddenly at home, March 1, 2010, in Olympia, WA. Bill was born June 20, 1951, in Jeffersonville, IN, to Donald & Margie Vest. Raised an “Army Brat,” Bill attended multiple K-12 schools, spending his last few years at Baker High School, Columbus, GA; and, lastly North Thurston High School Class of 1970, Olympia, WA.

He worked on Alaskan fishing boats; served in the US Navy; & sold cars in Hawaii and at Boone Ford, Olympia. Later, he found his niche with the State at DSHS & DOC; most recently as a Sergeant at the Dept. of Corrections Cedar Creek Facility.

Bill had an insatiable curiosity & zest for life & especially loved his family & friends. He liked to explore & initiate adventures. He enjoyed camping, hiking, fishing, swimming, photography, & collecting whimsical samples from the beauty all around. It was his untiring love for writing poetry that provided happiness and a sense of accomplishment.

His loving parents, Donald & Margie Vest survive & 4 siblings: Pamela Vest (Ken Conte); Donald Vest, Jr. (Laura); Carol Ann Cox (Corey)’ all of Olympia; and, David Vest (Petra) of Franklin, TN; lastly, his former wife & good friend, Glenda Huntington & her son, David.

There are many more family members, too numerous to mention, as well as constant friends, all who will miss him dearly.

A memorial service will be held at the Westwood Baptist Church, Olympia, WA, located at 333 Kaiser Rd NW, Olympia, 98502, on Saturday, March 13, 2010, at 1:00 PM.

Thanks to those who have acknowledged Bill's unexpected passing. It is helpful to get a line or a note of their experiences with Bill. We are all still quite in shock and as many of you probably have experience also, unfortunately, our lives are changed forever.
