Salem, AL- Arthur R. "Art" Chriss, 66 of Salem, Alabama died Saturday, April 27, 2013.
Funeral services for Arthur R. Chriss will be held Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary in Columbus with Reverend Steve Croft and Dr. Frank Parr officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 5:00p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Art was born in Columbus, Georgia to the late William Edward Chriss and Janie Sue Chriss. After graduating from Auburn University he married his high school sweetheart Susan Wise. Living in Columbus most of his life, Art was the owner and operator of Commando Military Supply for many years after taking over the business from his father. Art moved to Salem, Alabama to enjoy his retirement living on the backwaters. He was a member of Wynnton United Methodist Church and several other organizations in Columbus including: Toast Masters, a charter member of South Columbus Civitan Group, AUSA, Leadership of Columbus and
Rotary Club of Columbus.
Arthur Chriss is survived by his wife of 45 years, Susan W. Chriss, Daughters; Mellanie Vinyard and her husband Tim, Sandi Carpenter and her husband Chuck, Nikki Grahm and her husband Scott, and Kristi Chriss. Grandchildren; Madison Vinyard, William Vinyard, Jake Carpenter, Charlie Carpenter, Dailey Graham, Grayson Graham, Colton Graham, Jake Graham and Luke Graham. Brother, Donald E. Chriss and his wife Shirley of Kissimmee, Florida, several nieces and nephews and special friends, Dot Bruner and Frances Jeffers. Art's beloved pets, Champ and Aubie.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University, Development Office, 1762 Clifton Rd, Suite 1400, Atlanta, Georgia 30322.

Sherry Stokes (Stanley) (1980)

What a wonderful Christian man. My mother worked for him and his father for over 45 years.

Chriss you will be missed!!
