Mike was a Sgt in the Air Force and did a tour in Viet Nam, where he was in contact with agent orange.  It gave him diabetes, and the lung cancer that ended his life.  Mike was my best friend and a great American.

It's always so sad to see a new memorial entry, even more so when it is someone we knew, studied with, laughed with grew and yet drifted apart through years of different career paths. Mike will always be remembered by so many of us. To Mike's family we offer our condolences and the sure knowledge that he loved each of you. To our Baker High family I ask that we pause and give thanks for his friendship. And for you, Mike ... rest in peace, friend. Your battles are over, the victory proclaimed. Rest in Peace. C.W.

I remember Mike from Eastway Elementary and Baker HS. He was a super nice person. He told me at one of the reunions that he had survived some difficult times. He didn't go into a lot of detail but seemed particularly proud of his sobriety for many, many years. I never saw him during the time that he was using alcohol but I have seen others struggle with the disease. I was glad that I had the opportunity to congratulate him for winning the battle. He "kindly" corrected me and explained that the battle would never end but he was confident that he would continue his sobriety - one day at a time. I hope that he took my congratulations to heart and knew that I admired him deeply for his sense of purpose and strength. I followed his battle with cancer from a distance and gained additional respect for him for the way he dealt with it. I'm so sorry that he lost that battle. I hope that his family and closed friends find comfort in the memories that they forged together through the years. RIP Mike!
