Kenny was the best of the best. He had a winning smile, wit and a genuine interest in his classmates. I met him while in shop class. He had a great sense of humor coupled with a keen intellect. When the annual Baker riots were going on we stayed in class and played paper football. I remember Kenny and me looking out the window at the fighting and both of us laughed at the stupididty of it all. It was a big shock the day I found out Kenny died. I had talked to him the day before at class and I was invited by him to go swimming but, I knew my swimming ability was next to nil. I have prayed for Kenny for over 35 years and I will continue to do so. Kenny taught me that every person is different and to never judge anyone by their color or ethnicity. I pray that one day the lesson I learned becomes universal. Thanks Kenny for your friendship and showing a poor white kid from Benning Hills that the world was a better place with you in it.
