Mr. Eugene Mitchell, Jr., 60, of 2425 7th St. Columbus, died Friday, March 24, 2017 at Columbus Hospice. Mr. Mitchell was born June 22, 1956 in Columbus, GA to the late Eugene Mitchell, Sr. and Sarah Mahone Mitchell. He was a veteran of the US Air Force and worked for Snyder Lance. He was also a member of Macedonia Baptist Church and in addition to his mother he is survived by: one son, Jarrod Mitchell; one daughter, JhaVon Mitchell; one brother, Gregory Mitchell; four sisters, Virgina Owens, Ella (Marvin) Brown, Brenda (Henry) Ganter and Patsy (Percy) Lilliel and four grandchildren. Funeral service: 11 am Saturday, April 1, 2017 at Macedonia Baptist Church. Burial: Green Acres cemetery.

Eugene was truly a great school mate, team mate, and Friend at Baker High School and after, we all went abroad to serve our country and develope into adults. After many years to come back and re-connect was a awesome thang:!! Eugene came to all of the Home Boys and Girls reunions and never once said any thing was wrong with his health, he just came to show that wonderful smile that he has always had and that unique laugh he had that was his alone. Eugene will be missed but never ever forgotten! RIP MY BROTHER!!!! JW

So sorry to hear of Eugene's passing. There are so many things about Eugene that are memorable, his kind heart, his friendly nature and who could ever forget his fro! Always hated when I had to sit behind him in class, I couldn't see the board, but loved talking to him during class any way. He will be missed by so many-family, friends and fellow classmates. RIP my friend.
