Flat Rock, Michigan- LT (USN Ret) John F. Kuntz, age 68, resident of Flat Rock, Michigan, died on Thursday, April 18, 2013 in Detroit, Michigan. Funeral services will be held at the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus on Thursday, April 25, 2013, 1 p.m. with Reverend (Dr.) Rick Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow at Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Road, Columbus. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 from 6-8 p.m.
LT Kuntz, son of the late Jessie Kuntz and Josie Mae Messick Kuntz, was born November 13, 1944 in Columbus. He was retired from the U.S. Navy where he dedicated more than 22 years of honorable service. During his military career, he was awarded numerous ribbons and medals to include the Navy Commendation Medal and Navy Achievement Medal.
He was preceded in death by a brother, James Kuntz of Fort Walton Beach, Florida. LT Kuntz is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Carolyn Kuntz of Flat Rock, Michigan; one daughter, Johnna Mathews and her husband Randy Mathews; two sons, James Kuntz and his wife Lisa Kuntz and John Kuntz and his wife Leisa Kuntz; one brother, Michael Lee Kuntz of Columbus; seven grandchildren, Victoria Ryan Battigalia, Elizabeth Devin Kuntz, Jacquelyn Paige Kuntz, Allyson Leigh-Ann Mathews, Randall Christopher Mathews III, McKinney Anne Kuntz, and Declan Conner Kuntz; two great-granddaughters, Vivian Blakely and Olivia Blakely; other relatives and friends.
