Beverly Sue Yawn Lewis August 4, 1937 - June 21, 2010 COLUMBUS, GA— Beverly Sue Yawn Lewis, 72, of Columbus died Monday, June 21, 2010 at St. Francis Hospital. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 24, 2010 at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA 31907 with Reverend Chris Hess Officiating. The family will greet friends Wednesday evening, June 23, 2010 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Lewis was born August 4, 1937 in Columbus, GA to the late James Frederick. and Agnes Brand Yawn. She was co-owner of A&S Carpets and a member of Edgewood United Methodist Church. We will remember her as a loving wife, mother, and Nana which was evident with her involvement in the lives of her family and friends. She was always there for anyone who needed her, never met a stranger, and always had a kind word for everyone she met. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lewis was preceded in death by a son, James Alvie Lewis. Survivors include her loving husband, Alvie B. Lewis, Jr. of Columbus, GA; her daughter, Carol Sue Korzan and her husband, Frederick of Waverly Hall, GA; one son, Donald Edward Lewis of Columbus, GA; one brother, James Frederick "Butch" Yawn II and his wife, Laureen of Columbus, GA; one sister, Laura "Lolly" Smith and her husband, Jack of Myrtle Beach, SC; one grandson, Ricky Korzan of Waverly Hall, GA; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
