Cecil Donald "Donnie" Daniel, 79, of Fortson, GA, passed away Sunday August 14, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. Donnie was born in Harris City, GA, February 24, 1937 to his late parents, Harvey and Clyde Daniel. Donnie graduated from Baker High School in 1955 and was employed by Lummus Industries before he joined the Air Force and served for four years active duty. After returning from the military he rejoined Lummus Industries and worked for over 30 years before ending his career as a purchasing agent. He attended Piney Grove Baptist Church, enjoyed camping, Nascar Auto Racing, and visiting friends. His passion was his family and spending time with them. Along with his parents, Donnie is preceded in death by his sister Mary Jean Daniel and grandson, Nathan Daniel. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Shelba Daniel; his children, Donald James (Janet) Daniel of Dawsonville, GA, and Brenda Sue (Dewey) Batchelor of Fortson, GA; grandchildren, Laura Daniel of Cumming, GA and Kristin Batchelor of Fortson, GA; sisters, Dorothy M. Daniel and Jeanette Phillips; nieces, nephews, other family members and many, many friends. The family will welcome guests at the graveside Celebration of Donnie's Life, Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at 11:00 am in Parkhill Cemetery, 6141 Macon Rd, Columbus, GA.
