Joseph Ottens Battiato, Jr. May 24, 1936 - February 15, 2009 COLUMBUS, GA— Joseph Ottens Battiato, Jr., 72, of Midland died Sunday, February 15, 2009 at Columbus Hospice House. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 17, 2009 in Striffler Ð Hamby Mortuary with Father Frank Patterson officiating. A private entombment will follow in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. Mr. Battiato was born May 24, 1936 in Governors Island, NY, the son of the late Joseph Ottens Battiato, Sr. and the late Carra Ingram Battiato. He had lived in Columbus most of his life and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He retired as a supervisor with Alabama Electric Company. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Wallace Battiato; three children, Cathryn Wilkinson and her husband, Tommy of Midland, Joseph O. Battiato III of Columbus, and Elizabeth Dykes and her husband, Ken of Waverly Hall; three brothers, Brinson I. Battiato, Peter A. Battiato and Chandler Battiato, all of Columbus; and one sister, Christine Bruner of Columbus. Flowers are accepted or make contributions to Columbus Hospice House, 7020 Moon Road, Columbus, GA 31909
