Wynell Armstrong (Young) - Class Of 1955 VIEW PROFILE

Wynell A. Young was called home by her Heavenly Father on December 14, 2013 at the age of 76.  Wynell was born on July 5, 1937 at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, TX and preceded in death by her parents, Jessie (J. C.) and Millie Armstrong and brother, Jack Armstrong.

Wynell is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Paul Adkins, and the grandchildren who were so precious to her, Trevor, Kiersten and Ty Adkins.  Wynell was a step-mother to Diane Lipsey and Alan Young, both of who have been so loving and kind to her.  She is also survived by numerous cousins whom she shared so many wonderful childhood memories with and were always so dear to her heart.  The family would also like to extend a special thank you to Wynell’s longtime family friend and caregiver, Marsha Moorehead.  We can never express enough our thankfulness for the care and love that she gave not only to Wynell but the family as a whole.

Wynell was an army brat who entered my life in 1953 at Baker High School and stayed there until her death from Alzheimers disease last year. Upon the retirement of her Dad In the late 50's she left Columbus with her Mom and Dad to move to Texas City, Texas where she worked for and retired from Monsanto Chemical.  She met her husband there and stayed there until her death. She had one beautiful and smart daughter, Karen.

Wynell was a true and lasting friend through al the years.  We visited back and forth for many years.  Even when she was in the grasp of Alzheimers she never failed to recognize me when I called and her wonderful lilting spirit remained until the very end.

I have no doubt that somewhere up there she is grinning and chuckling as I write this. Miss you Wy.
