Columbus, GA- Earnest Shorter, Jr. 52, of 3070 Plantation Road, Columbus passed Friday, June 28, 2013 at Columbus Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held 1:00PM Friday, July 5, 2013 at the Rose Hill Chapel of Hill-Watson-People's Funeral Service LLC, 2919 Hamilton Road with Dr. Darrell Evans officiating. Interment will follow at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery with military Honors according to Hill-Watson-People's Funeral Service LLC. Visitation will be from 12:00Noon until the funeral hour Friday, July 5, 2013 at the funeral home. Mr. Shorter was born June 12, 1961 in Columbus, GA son of the late Earnest and Dorothy Jean Shorter, Sr. He graduated from Baker High in 1979 and later went on to serve 12 years in the United States Army. Earnest attended Columbus Technical College, studying Automotive Mechanics and was a youth football coach for south Columbus. He leaves to cherish his memories his, fiancée, Dinita Brooks; sons, Earnest Shorter III and DeShawn Shorter; a daughter, Tameika Shorter; stepsons, Dernigue(Keisha)Rogers and DeShawn Rogers; brothers, Bobby(Sabrina)Shorter and Reggie(Alecia)Shorter; a sister Vanessa Shorter; a grandchild, Dontavious Rogers, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
