Cooper Ferrell Hamer, 73, Columbus, GA died Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at his residence.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, November 1, 2013 at Calvary Baptist Church, 7556 Old Moon Rd. Columbus, GA 31909 with Dr. Don Wilhite officiating. An Interment will be held in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5:00-7:00 PM at McMullen Funeral Home, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.

Mr. Hamer was born April 9, 1940 in Lagrange, GA, son of the late James Cooper Hamer and Nellie Catherine Parkman Hamer. He was a graduate of Baker High School, CVCC, and Troy State University earning a Bachelor of Business Administration. He was a member of South Columbus and Columbus Civitan where he held various offices as well as holding various offices in Christian Motorcyclist Associations and ABATE of Georgia. Mr. Hamer was a retired banker who taught various AIB courses and current owner of Special Asset Management Company. Mr. Hamer was also the current Chaplain of the Harley Owners Group. Mr. Hamer served 6 years on the Columbus Fire Department. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church for 42 years.

Mr. Hamer was married to the love of his life, Barbara for 22 years. He loved dining with friends and was known as “Felon” in the biker community.

Other than his parents he was preceded in death by his brother; Grady Hamer, sister-in-law; Sandy Hamer, sister; Joyce Sparks, and brother-in-law; Arthur Sparks.
Survivors include wife; Barbara Ellen McRae Hamer, sons; Michael “Mike” Ferrell Hamer of Brooksville, FL, Cooper Grant Hamer of Carrollton, GA, Lane Parkman Hamer (Reba) of LaGrange, GA, Tim McRae (Jamie) of Midland, GA, Glen McRae (Julie), Columbus, GA, daughter; Tracey McRae Richards (Hunter) of Midland, GA,
grandchildren; Sly Rosato, Miranda Hamer, Madelyn Hamer, Brittany Smith (Marcel), Spencer Dansby, Gage McRae, Catie McRae, Harrison Richards, Morgan Brooks, Kyle Brooks, great-grandchildren; Alyssa Smith and Tristan Smith.

Pallbearers include Mike Hamer, Grant Hamer, Lane Hamer, Tim McRae, Glen McRae, Hunter Richards, Kevin Hamer, and Jeff Hamer.
