Helen Rochelle Newbery, 64, passed away peacefully 4 Aug 2023 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Lexington Kentucky surrounded by friends and family. Helen was the daughter of Frank and Leone Moore and survived by her two children Nichole Desiree Mills, Christopher Martin Newbery and her husband Martin Roger Newbery, of 35 years. She was born in Ft Bragg NC on 15 Mar 1959, and graduated from Baker High School on 4 Jun 1976.
She traveled through Alaska as a court reporter, and sometimes used dog sleds to arrive on location to document court cases.
She later moved to Valparaiso FL and worked as an executive secretary at Eglin AFB. She married Martin Newbery on 24 Apr 1988 in Fort Walton Beach FL.
She earned a Bachelor of Science degree from University of Maryland extension in Heidelberg Germany while her husband was stationed at Ramstein AB. Upon returning to the States, she worked in private industry refurbishing military aircraft and retrofitting C-130 gunships. She joined Civil Service and became a Contracting Officer managing maintenance contracts for Hill AFB UT, grant funding distribution for the Air Force Office of Scientific Research and retired from the Pentagon after 20 years of Service in 2020.
She was a feisty, intelligent, fun-loving and passionate woman. She inspired several young girls to become business leaders. Her influence will be missed by all who knew her. She is now an angel.
There will be no additional funeral arrangements. Her request was to be cremated and her ashes spread with her parents' ashes on a beach in FL. She will never be alone.
