Laura Missy Charo (Hornsby) - Class Of 1984

                                                             

Laura “Missy” Charo Hornsby, age 51, lost her second courageous battle with cancer on January 20th, 2018.

A gathering will be held to celebrate her life on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 PM at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.

A lifelong resident of Columbus, Georgia, Laura graduated from Baker High School in 1984. She continued her education at Columbus State University, earning a Bachelor of Business Administration, Master of Education, and Bachelor of Applied Computer Science. 

Laura was an educator for twenty years, teaching at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School, East Columbus Magnet Academy, and Double Churches Middle School. Additionally, Laura worked for Total Systems for seven years as both a computer programmer and technical writer.

Outside of her education and career, Laura was an avid reader, world traveler, nurturing mother, caring daughter and sister, dedicated wife, and generous friend. Laura had an energetic spirit and unique zest for life. Through her example, she inspired her students, coworkers, friends, and family to try their absolute best in all of their endeavors and to never give up.

She is predeceased by her great-grandmother, Frances Scarborough, her mother, Catherine S. Charo, her brother, Lawrence Charo, and her daughter, Lauren Hornsby.

She is survived by her father, Larry Charo, her husband, Les Hornsby, her daughter, Lindley Hornsby, her two sisters, Lisa Charo and Leeann Charo Dimmlich, and three nieces, Lindsay, Lydia, and Lillian Dimmlich.
