AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Investigators are looking for who shot a man who was found dead at a Deans Bridge Road motel early Saturday morning.

Calvin Bernard Davis, 38, was found at the Economy Inn just before 5:30 a.m., Chief Deputy Coroner Mark Bowen said in an e-mail. Deputies had been called to the room because of a fight.

Davis was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators say the Augusta man had been shot at least once.

Investigators have named Timothy Gregory Cain as a suspect, and have warrants on him for murder and having a gun during a crime. The 20-year-old is from Antebellum Drive, Sgt. Blaise Dresser said.

An autopsy is scheduled for Sunday at the GBI crime lab in Augusta. Autopsy results will not be know until Sunday afternoon, Bowen said.

This is the second murder at the motel in less than a year and Sgt. Dresser said investigators have been called out to that area of Deans Bridge Road frequently as of late.

Lashonda Smith, lives nearby and she said she heard the gun shots around 5 a.m. Saturday morning.

"I mean it's scary when we hear gun shots on this corner and we have young kids on this corner," she said. "But other than that I mean we try to make the best of what it is."

"It's very upsetting," another neighbor said about the murder. "You just know activity is going on at that time of the night that you know people shouldn't be doing."

In November of 2009, Andre Boyd was murdered at the same motel, which investigators said was over money. A grand jury indicted Russell Allen Fletcher back in February in relation to that shooting.

"I mean people still go to it," Smith said. "You have drug dealers, you know you have robbers, killers, it's still Deans Bridge Road."

Investigators said that stretch of Deans Bridge Road has become a high crime area as of late.

"It's been like this for ten years," Smith said. "We've been staying on this same block and this same house for ten years and it's the same thing going on. From people trying to rob other people to shootings."

She's talking about a few different shootings in the past six months that investigators say has taken place near Cyrus's Corner.

Another neighbor said there are problems at the other motel's on the street, along with a trailer park that adds to the crime.

They say from now on any suspicious activity should be reported to prevent further murders or other crimes from happening.

If you have any information please call the Richmond County Sheriff's Office.
