Vincent Sumbry - Class Of 1977 VIEW PROFILE

Vincent Lamar Sumbry, Sr. November 22, 1958 - July 6, 2010 COLUMBUS, GA — Vincent Lamar Sumbry, Sr., "Patcho", 51, of Columbus, passed Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at his home. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, July 12, 2010 at Sconiers Funeral Home Chapel. Burial with military honors will follow in the Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery in Ft. Mitchell, AL. Rev. Noble Williams, pastor of Greater Mt. Zion Baptist Church will officiate. Viewing and visitation will be held Sunday from 12 noon until 4 p.m. at the funeral home. The family will receive relatives and friends at the home of Crystal and Michael Williams at 5307 Argonne Drive. The cortege will meet at the funeral home on the day of the service, according to Sconiers Funeral Home, 836 5th Avenue, Columbus. Mr. Sumbry was born November 22, 1958 in Phenix City, the son of Jacqueline Edmonds Martin (Eddie) of Columbus and Andrew Sambur, Sr. (Gladys) of Ft. Mitchell, AL. He was a member of Vermont Avenue Baptist Church in Washington, DC, attended Greater Mt. Zion Baptist Church, and was a U.S. Army Veteran. In 1977 Patcho graduated from Baker High School where he excelled in basketball. In 1980 he graduated from Morristown College in Morristown, TN where he received his A.S. degree in Sociology. He later moved to Washington DC and worked as an Archives Technician at the National Archives Center in Suitland, Md. and later in Ellenwood, GA. In addition to his parents, survivors include one son, Vincent Lamar Sumbry, Jr., of Washington, DC; four brothers, Christopher Sumbry and Albert Morris, Jr., both of Columbus, Andre Sumbry of Montgomery, AL and Michael Morris of Pontiac, MI; six sisters, Joycelyn Sumbry, Ondrea Smith (Warren) and Crystal Williams (Michael) and Jessica Morris, all of Columbus, LaShawn Ford (Robert) of Phenix City, AL and Lillian Fowlkes (Lorenzo) of Auburn Hills, MI; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles, aunts, relatives and his best friend, Charles Jackson of Columbus.
