Ann Marie Russell
March 1, 1959-September 26, 2014
Palm City, FL- Ann Marie (Salazar) Russell, 55, of Palm City, FL. passed away peacefully in her home September 26, 2014. Funeral services will be held, Saturday, October 4, 2014, beginning at 11:00 A.M. EST. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 1953 Torch Hill Road, Columbus, GA. 31903. Interment will conclude at Fort Benning Main Post Cemetery on Monday at 9:00 A.M. The family will receive friends Friday evening, October 3, from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Vance-Brooks Funeral Home, 4048 Macon Road, Columbus, GA., 31907.
Ann was born March 1, 1959 in Camp Zama, Japan, daughter of the late Rafael Salazar and Marcelina Momsobol Salazar. Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Sonia Victorio. Survivors include her devoted husband of 34 years, Guy William Russell; daughter Breanna; sister, Judith Depasupil (Carlos) of Lilburn, GA.; brothers, Cesar Salazar of Lilburn, GA., Roger Salazar (Patty) of Columbus, GA., and Ralph Salazar (Luz) of Columbus, GA. Ann is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and other loving extended family and caring friends.
Throughout her life, Ann was well known for her commitment to family, friends, and for making sure each day included good food and lots of laughter. Lovingly called 'Tita' by her family, Ann was always in-touch with family and friends to know what was going on and where she needed to be to celebrate the events in their lives. Major holidays were her favorite times because she was sure to host or participate in family gatherings (whether they were for her family or the families of her friends). Ann always encouraged group food preparations, lots of laughter, and made sure stories about what was going on were shared by all. Ann was also 'Tita' to each of her friends' families. Soon after meeting Ann, bonds were established and her friends' families became her family. Even late in her battle with cancer, Ann selflessly kept up with and traveled long distances to visit with friends and family. Ann Marie Russell will long be remembered as her husband's bride, a loving mother to her daughter, a spirited and caring sister to her siblings, more of a close friend to her nephews and nieces than as an aunt, and loyal friend to all whose lives were touched by her. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations to the
