Nicholas M. Lynch Jr

January 18, 1950 - September 14, 2018

 

Mr. Nicholas M. Lynch Jr., age 68, died on Friday, September 14, 2018, at his residence under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice.

Nicholas spent his childhood in Columbus, Ga., and was a graduate of Baker High School.

He was a veteran of the United States Army.

He worked in logistics sales and worked with several companies during his career, including Smith Transfer, Conway CSE and USF Holland, before retiring from Southeastern Freight Lines in 2015 after 16 years of service.

He was an avid outdoorsman and his passion was turkey hunting.

Mr. Lynch was known as a man of integrity, loved to make people laugh and enjoyed entertaining his grandchildren and other children he met.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Nicholas Michael Lynch Sr. and Phyllis Williamson Murray; and a brother, Joseph Patrick Lynch.

Surviving is his wife of 48 years, Barbara Murphy Lynch of Statesboro; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathryn and John Devereux of Rincon; two grandchildren, Grayson Devereux and Sofie Devereux; two sisters, Jean (Donnie) Melton of Hinesville and Susan Hunt of Metter; a brother–in-law, Charles H. (Margie) Murphy of Georgetown, Ga.; a sister-in-law, Kathy Lattauzio of Austin, Texas; his father-in-law, William Murphy of Phenix City, Ala. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. with Pastor Mike Holt officiating.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Ogeechee Area Hospice, P.O. Box 531, Statesboro, GA 30459.

Barbara I'm so very sorry to hear about Mike.  He was such a great guy, and I know your heart is broken.   So glad I got to catch up with you both at the 40th Reunion, I will treasure that.  Please know that you & your family are in my prayers for peace & comfort.  Love you & again, I'm so sorry.
