Midland, Georgia- Michael Earl Whaley, 62 of Midland, GA., died Saturday, July 23, 2011, at the Columbus Hospice House.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 26, 2011, in the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road Columbus, GA, with Reverend David Helms, Reverend Frank Parr and Reverend Mike Ricker officiating. Interment to follow in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends this evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Whaley was born in Ft. Benning, GA., on April 4, 1949, to the late Woodrow W. Whaley and Ruby Graves Whaley . Mr. Whaley was a member of Bethesda Baptist Church and was the Owner & Operator of Biscuit Equipment.
Survivors include his wife, Kay Whaley of Midland, GA. two sons, Michael Scott Whaley of Columbus and Thomas Christopher Whaley and wife Jenny and two granddaughters, Anna Grace Whaley and Alice Kay Whaley all of Ellerslie, GA.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to , Columbus Hospice, Wynnton Neighborhood Housing or Bethesda Baptist Church
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Columbus Hospice Team, Bonita Lewis, Debbie Allen, Rev. Dan McMinn and the Infusion Nurses at the John B. Amos Center.

Gloria Jane Cantrell (Gordon) (1967)

Remembering way back when we went to Benning Hills. . . My mom and his in the kitchen making candy apples; Mike, "Dee", my sister Linda and I running around trying to steal one !   Mike was probably my first "crush".  He was a great friend, and will be missed by all who knew him.
