Sue Ellen Wells May 23, 1949 - September 1, 2009 COLUMBUS, GA— Sue Wells, 60, of Columbus, died Tuesday, September 1, 2009, at home. She has lived in Columbus for fifty-one years. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 5, 2009, at South Columbus United Methodist Church with burial at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Macon Road Chapel, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, September 4, 2009. Ms. Wells was born May 23, 1949, in Washington, Missouri, daughter of the late George Eugene and Inez Evelyn Wells. She graduated from Baker High School in 1967 and received degrees in math and history from Columbus State University. She worked in the engineering departments of Pascoe Steel and American buildings. An active member of South Columbus United Methodist Church since 1958, she served on numerous boards and committees, and was a popular Sunday School teacher. Survivors include two brothers, Glenn (Pat) and Gary; and two nephews, Skyler (Yvonne) and Christopher.
