Darrell attended Columbus College after graduation... The summer of 1970, he and his brother Michael Ashley ( who was to start Baker that fall) were in a serious auto accident near Gainesville, Georgia. Michael was killed in the accident; my family attended the funeral and Darrell spent months in the hospital. The last time I saw and spoke with him was in the Spring of 1971 when he was visiting my parents and I was leaving to join my husband overseas. Pat and I were saddened to learn of his death a few months ago via the internet. Darrell was a dear friend not only to me but my family.
