Terry and I were neighbors what seemed like forever.  We were the same age and same grade.  I have very fond memories of many days playing basketball in his back yard with and his two brothers.  I pretty much owe my basketball career to the Bassetts.  He was a great neighbor and childhood friend.  Thanks for all the memories.

Knowing Terry was a Hoot!!!!! Terry was funny, a jokester, loved his family and friends.

He always had a kind, sweet word to say about everyone.

One day, he and Glenn came over to the house.. as I went to get in the car, Terry told me to get in the back seat. I looked like a deer with headlights. Then a huge smile appeared. Like I said he was joking and pulling jokes on people. He was the one that gave me my nickname (as a Freshmen) he never called me by my name, it was always Henderson. Pretty soon the football and basketball players were calling me the same. The Assistant principal Mr. Strildroff (sp) was calling me Henderson.

Terry you are missed and Loved by all your classmates and All Bkaer LIONS

Roar LION Roar!!!!!!!!!!!

Rehnada "Nada" Melhorn (Grahn) (1985)

I was born in 1967. Attended Baker High School until 1983. My family moved to Panama City, Florida and I started attending Bay High School. One of my teachers was Mr. Terry Bassett. He and I used to talk fondly about Baker and also some of the teachers that were there at the same time. He remembered Mrs. Effie Joe Reid. He was a wonderful teacher. I have thought of him many times after that and wondered what happened to him. I hate to hear that he has passed away.

I did not know Terry was gone. He was a fine standup guy and I liked him alot. Our world will be less perfect without him. I'm glad to have known him and was able to spend time with him. There were people from my past that helped shape me. Those people, most of the time without their knowledge of me watching and observing them, added something good to my character and instilled in me certain principles  that kept me from falling completely into a life of total vile behavior. Terry was one of them and I will always be in his debt.

I am so sorry to learn of this. Terry was always smiling and always such a kind soul.  My thoughts and prayers go out to Tommy and his family.

Sorry to hear that Terry is gone.  He, James Baily, Glenn Henderson , and Randy Madden we some of the friends I remember most from our days at Muscogee County, and our freshman year at Baker.  We shipped out that summer to Germany, and I never saw them again.  He was a really nice guy and a good friend to all.
