Sam represents one of the better learning experiences I had while at Baker.  Although we lived near to each other, rode the bus together and nodded occasionally for years, I never really spoke with Sam until my senior year.  Honestly, I didn't think he was all that cool.  But one day after the "mud bowl"--a football game our neighborhood group would play each year next to the canning plant on Allied Drive (we'd turn on the sprinkliers the night before), I spotted him in the parking lot and struck up a conversation.  I found Sam to be so engaging and bright.  He had me pegged for sure, but was artfully graceful about it.  Thanks for making me a better man Sam ... rest in peace my friend.
