Nancy Satchwill was a wonderful Mother, Grandmother, friend and an amazing school teacher. She passed away on Friday, October 22, 2021 at the age of 86 from complications of Covid Pneumonia. Nancy was born in Columbus, Georgia and received a Bachelor’s of Science in Education from Georgia State College for Women. She later completed her Master’s Degree in Education from Nova Southeastern University. Nancy was a much loved school teacher in Georgia, Indiana and St. Lucie County, Florida for 33 years. Many remember her as their “favorite” teacher. Nancy was more than an academic teacher, she taught her kids many skills like sewing, quilting, ceramics, gardening, needlepoint and baking cookies just to name a few. She will be remembered by her numerous handmade family heirlooms, like Christmas stockings, blankets and various cross-stitch items. Nancy was always involved in the community, from starting a chapter of the Junior Woman's Club to running charity events, organizing school activities and chaperoning band trips. After she retired from teaching, she was very involved in the Retired Educators Association and volunteered at Heathcote Botanical Gardens in Ft. Pierce. She organized their volunteer staff for many years and was often found running the gift shop at the Gardens (while feeding the cats). She was always such a bright light and positive person. She inspired so many to learn, read, grow and stay curious about the world. She is survived by her daughters, Debbie Brooks, Mary (Adam) Veal, Patricia (Brian) Fuller, 5 Grandchildren Heather (Ben) Joynes, Robert Satchwill, Sarah Brooks, Michael Brooks, CJ Soles and 5 Great-Grandchildren, Skyler, Tristyn, Bricyn, Casyn and Lucas. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert and son Ronald. Donations will be accepted to purchase a commemorative bench at Heathcote Botanical Gardens in her name.
