Betty Joan (Whitten) Jordan, 83, of Columbus, GA, passed away on Friday, February 26, 2016 at Columbus Hospice House.  Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 29, 2016 at 3:00 PM, in Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby 4071 Macon Road Columbus, GA. Reverend Donald King will officiate, interment will follow in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 28, 2016 from 5-PM, in the St. Elmo room at Striffler-Hamby.  Mrs. Jordan was born on July 8, 1932 in Columbus, Georgia to the late John Whitten and Emma White Whitten. Joan graduated from Baker high school in 1950. She was an officer in the cheerleading club, junior class and voted most popular. She was also an active member of the art guild of Columbus and a well know local artist in water colors.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years George J. Jordan, Jr., two sons: George Jordan, III, and Alan Jordan. Also survived by her sister Jinny Saxon and brothers Joel and Jerry Whitten, grandchildren Lee Jordan, Jamie Jordan, Marianne Jordan, Neal Jordan and Emily Jordan and two great- grandchildren Joely and Georgia Jordan.
