I knew Joe-- he was a nice guy.  At one time his family lived in Esquiline, the historic old antebellum mansion on Esquiline Hill across the Cusseta Road from Baker.  There was a large circular gazebo and several old worker cabins on the property-- and a small cemetery with a cannonball on one of the graves.

Rest in peace, Joe.

I knew Joe, we were in a lot of the same classes.  As I recall he always fought for the  little guy.  Nice memories of Joe.
